The short version

  • Your files stay on your computer. Demos that accept a file process it entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
  • Pages that accept a file load no analytics and no session recording, and tell your browser to block outgoing connections.
  • Ask Mike is an AI guide, labeled as one. It answers only from content published on this site, does not record your questions, and keeps nothing.
  • Forms collect only what you type, and it goes to Mike by email so he can reply.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not run advertising or tracking cookies.
  • At launch we will count page visits without cookies, using Cloudflare Web Analytics on pages that do not accept files. It does not identify you or follow you to other sites.

Who we are

This site is run by Precision Tolerance AI LLC ("PTAI", "we", "us"), a California limited liability company based in Placer County, California. PTAI provides AI, data and website consulting to industrial distributors and manufacturers. This policy covers precisiontolerance.ai. Work we do for a client under a signed agreement is covered by that agreement (see Client engagements).

What we collect

We collect only three kinds of information through this site:

  • What you type into a form (for example your name, work email, company and message).
  • What you choose to tell us directly by email or phone.
  • Standard technical data that any website receives when your browser asks for a page, described under Technical data and cookies.

We do not buy personal information, and we do not collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers or health information through this site.

Demos and your files

Some demos let you try a tool on your own file, such as a price file or any file you want to fingerprint. When you do:

  • Your browser reads the file and runs the analysis on your device. The file and its results are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
  • Those pages carry a security policy that tells your browser to refuse outgoing data connections, and they show a live meter of network activity after you choose a file so you can check for yourself.
  • Those pages load no analytics, no session recording and no tracking scripts.
  • When you close the page, the file and results are gone from the page. Anything you save or download is under your control.

Sample data in our demos belongs to a fictional company and is labeled as sample data.

Ask Mike, our AI guide

"Ask Mike" is an automated guide, not Mike in person. It is labeled as an AI guide every time it opens, consistent with California's bot-disclosure law (Business and Professions Code section 17941).

  • It answers only from content published on this site and from our published security commitments.
  • Today it runs in your browser: your question is matched against that published content on your device. What you type is not sent to us, not recorded and not kept after you close the page.
  • It does not accept files and asks you not to type business data. If you paste something that looks like business data, it declines and points you to a demo that runs on your device.
  • It cannot make commitments for PTAI, quote anything beyond our published starting prices, or give legal, tax or financial advice.

If we add live AI answers or a voice version, we will update this policy first to name the provider and explain exactly what is sent and how long it is kept.

Forms and email

When you submit a form on this site, it sends only the fields you filled in to Mike by email so he can read and answer it himself. We use it to reply to you and to talk about the work you asked about.

How it travels: our website host (Cloudflare) receives the form and passes it straight to our own Microsoft 365 mailbox through Microsoft's email service. Nothing is stored along the way; the email in Mike's mailbox is the only record, kept in our Microsoft 365 account. If that path is ever unavailable, the page opens your own email app with the message filled in instead.

If you email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to send. Please do not email files containing business data; if a project needs data, we send you a restricted, expiring link instead.

Technical data and cookies

Like every website, ours receives standard request data when your browser loads a page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. This provider handles that data to run the site (our fonts and all other files are served from our own site, not from third parties):

ProviderWhat it does
CloudflareHosts and delivers this website; processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages and block attacks
Microsoft 365 (PTAI’s own account)Delivers what you type into a form to Mike’s mailbox, where it is kept as an email

We use this data only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We do not use advertising or session-recording tools on this site. Analytics are described in the next section.

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from automated attacks.

Website analytics

Today this site runs no analytics. When it launches publicly we plan to turn on Cloudflare Web Analytics, from the same company that hosts this site, to count visits and see which pages are read and how fast they load. This section describes it now so you can read it before it runs.

  • No cookies, no local storage. Cloudflare says the tool does not use any client-side state, such as cookies or localStorage, to collect its measurements.
  • No fingerprinting and no profiles. Cloudflare says it does not use your IP address, browser details or anything else to identify you or to follow you across websites. Visits are counted, not visitors.
  • What it measures: the page viewed, the referring page, browser and device type, country, and page-load timing. A small script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com) sends that measurement to Cloudflare.
  • Never on a page that accepts a file. The Margin X-Ray, the Glass Box fingerprint tool, Blind Export and every other page where you can open a file of your own load no analytics at all, and tell your browser to block outgoing connections.

We use these counts only to learn which pages help visitors and to fix slow pages. They are not sold, shared for advertising or combined with anything you type into a form.

How we use information

  • To reply to you and discuss the work you asked about.
  • To provide services you engage us for, under a signed agreement.
  • To keep the site and our systems secure and working.
  • To keep business records the law requires (for example, invoices).

No sale, no sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not use personal information to build profiles or make automated decisions about you.

Client engagements

Business data a client provides during an engagement is governed by our signed Client Services Agreement and its data-handling schedule, not by this website policy. In short: read-only access, one isolated workspace in the United States, AI that never trains on the data, delivery with SHA-256 fingerprints, data kept only while the client agreement is in effect and deleted within 30 days after it ends or on the client's written request (never automatically), and a signed Certificate of Data Deletion. Where that data includes personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we act as the client's service provider. See how we handle client data and our subprocessor list.

How long we keep information

Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond, to carry on the conversation you started, and to keep the business records the law requires. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see below). Client data from an engagement is purged on the schedule in the client's agreement.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may ask us to:

  • Know and access the personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and who we disclosed it to.
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions the law allows.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still ask.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect it through this site.

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. To make a request, email mike@precisiontolerance.ai or call (530) 368-7296. We will confirm your identity by matching information we already have, such as the email address you wrote to us from, and respond within the time the law allows (generally 45 days). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of your permission.

Security

We run a written Information Security Program built on the CIS Critical Security Controls, with multi-factor sign-in on every account and a written incident response plan. See the full picture.

Children

This site is for businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect or send (for example, a new tool on the site), we update this page before the change takes effect.
